Front Desk: The Roost in Ocean Springs, Mississippi
Nate and I love the Mississippi Gulf Coast. It’s just an hour-ish away from our home in New Orleans, and the perfect spot for a quick weekend beach trip.
And while we typically spend most of our time in Bay St. Louis (drinking beer under a beach tent), we love staying at The Roost, a boutique hotel in Ocean Springs. The 11-room property is made of suites that pay homage to the Coast. There’s the Pelican Suite with a kitchen and separate living area; the Shearwater Suite, with a master bedroom, full kitchen, and a private patio; or the Sawgrass Suite with two queen beds—ideal for a girls’ trip.
All of the rooms have a beach-chic decor with high-end, non-cheesy furnishings that make you feel as if you’re staying at a stylish friend’s summer house. There’s also this cute loft-like common outdoor space with oversize chairs, communal tables, and stunning chandeliers that’s nice for a post-dinner drink.
And the town if full of good food, a nice beach, and art—most notably the Walter Anderson Museum of Art and loads of galleries.
